Exposed to Covid on Friday night and Saturday morning, via a visit to my daughter and son-in-law. He was out of town on business for most of my trip but I saw him Friday night and Saturday morning. He was having cold symptoms and we found out today it is Covid.
I had my latest booster a little over a month ago, in anticipation of this trip, so I have done all I can to prevent infection, but we will see. Fingers crossed.
I will self isolate, even though I am currently symptom free , but if I need to make a run to the store or interact with anyone, I have a nice supply of KN95 masks that I will wear.
If I am still symptom free on Thursday, I will do an at home test, because that would be 5 days from last exposure on Saturday. Of course, if I develop symptoms, I will test sooner.
Ugh. If I get sick, what’s the current feeling on Paxlovid? In the beginning, there were a lot of rebound cases, but it does seem to make the symptoms better. I am 67. What’s the hive mind opinion on Paxlovid?

Well since Paxlovid needs to be utilized within 5 days of infection, you might want to speak to your doctor today.

Get Paxlovid once you are eligible. How is your daughter doing? Keep testing and good luck. And thank you for caring about others by masking, etc. It seems that CDC isn’t too concerned anymore about isolating.

Daughter doesn’t have symptoms yet, so maybe she will dodge the bullet. I hope I do, too.
Son in law felt bad yesterday. I hope he is better today.

A. I agree with Lux, above.
B. Check those COVID test expiration dates. Yes, I know they've been extended, but not to forever. The USPS sent a reminder today that new ones could be ordered, so I did just that. Meanwhile I figured I'd check the ones we had in stock. I'm tossing out 5 two-packs and 4 singles. Even accounting for the extended expiration, the 'newest' ones expired 9/24. Others expired 1/24.

Doctor sent an Rx for Paxlovid.
We have a high deductible plan, pharmacist said the cost was $1400.
They also said we should apply at https://paxlovid.iassist.com
I did that, I said that I do have medical insurance (they did not ask for any details if it's a high deductible or not). More questions if we receive any Medicare or Medicaid, which we do not.
I got a card. Back to Pharmacy, cost is $0.
I don't complain.

According to HHS, through the end of 2024, people who are uninsured and those who have Medicare or Medicaid coverage will continue to be able to get Paxlovid for free through a patient assistance program set up by Pfizer...

But I DO HAVE insurance, although a high deductible plan.
And I do not have Medicare or Medicaid.
Why did they give me the discount? :dunno:
