Did I "blow it" with this rebate?

Mail it tomorrow, expect to be rejected, and when you get the reject postcard in a month or so, just call the rebate company and they will probably let it slide. You are having it postmarked 2 days late, not 2 weeks late. They probably don't save the envelope with the postmark with the rest of the paperwork anyway.

Thanks for the thought, David.
I do plan to send it in tomorrow, but I thought I'd call the number they give as well to see what they have to say. I don't know if this is a good idea or not?

especially with the 25th being a saturday, if the mail had been picked up late on saturday, it would be postmarked on Monday the 27th anyway, even if you mailed on the 25th.

Go to a Main Post Office now!
The main offices do mail pick up 24/7 from the boxes outside. It will have today's postmark, even more plausible. BGnR

OR...
DON'T Mail it! Wait a week or two, then contact the Rebate processor and complain (politely) that there's NO status of your submission on their website. "...Of course you mailed it on March 6th!". They'll ask you to Fax COPIES of everything to them & they'll process it 'right away'. Done this & it works (if they use a website or send email for verifying status). However, if you mail it late, you can't use this method.

Panopticon, I see the logic of your suggestion, but it seems risky.
Have you had positive results using this method, particularly with Office Depot? Thanks for your thoughts, GeneL

I've concur with Pano'. A friend of mine did this once and it worked.

Where do you stand now? At zero. You've lost it.
You're asking about mailing it now and begging them to accept it. Then someone says "don't mail it, just call them in 8 weeks and bitch"--and you're reluctant to do so because you think THAT is "risky"? ?????????????

elmo3, you must learn to read.
Nowhere did I say anything about "begging." I simply asked if other forum members had experience with a similar situation. As usual, you are real fast to start throwing nasty remarks. Consider yourself and your pathetic quibbling "IGNORED." I find it unlikely that if Office Depot hasn't receive any verification, i.e. proof of purchase and the original UPC code, that they will honor a faxed in copy. They specifically say: "Office Depot is not responsible for Late, Lost, Damaged or Misdirected Mail Claims." One thing for sure, I will never procrastinate about mailing rebates, ever again. |
