i gingerly pulled it out of the box and lovingly plugged it in and it started up......
THEN it went through its phoenix se or ce or something like that and it FAILED!!! After restarting, Same thing. I called Apple and right away he said "It is DOA." THis is crazy!!!! It was a refurb so according to Apple it goes through the STRINGENT process, it also lacked the iLife Disc. The guy was VERY helpful but i have to wait 2 or 3 business days for the return authorization to be e-mailed to me. Why? He was not sure. For my trouble I talked him into sending a free 512 stick for free!!

Was that a good deal or did I settle???
I asked for a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard to no avail.

BTW, the iLife apps are bundled on the 2 intel iMac install DVDs, there isn't a separate iLife DVD.

Could have gone DOA if dropped hard enough during shipping.
The MacIntel comes with 2X256 chips, and only two slots, so your 512 chip will only give you 768.
The RAM upgrade on the MacIntel is fairly easy, you pull out the SuperDrive, and The RAM is there, only slightly harder than the G4 MacMini.
But if I am cracking the case I am putting in the 2X1GB RAM upgrade.

BGnR,
I beg to differ about the RAM and install on the intel iMac. There are only four screws to remove on the bottom of the screen, no removal of the SuperDrive is needed. You must be thinking about the mini not the iMac. Also the intel iMac comes with one 512 installed and there is one more open slot.

Sounds like my refurb iPod. Three returns later I got one that works. I hope you only have to go through the return process once.

I am glad you differed!
You are ABSOLUTELY correct.
I had just got off the phone coaching a friend through the Intelmini RAM install.
Forgive me for the screwup.

rgG, you shouldn't beg. It's unbecoming of you.
