I read an article just a couple of days ago about the Smart cars coming to the US. Only the coupe is coming, IIRC, and I thought they said that the roadster had been discontinued, but I could be wrong. Here is a link to a similar article from Bloomberg, not the same one that I read, but some of the same info.

BTW, my daughter has been wanting one of those since we saw them in the UK a few years ago. She liked the pink one, what can I say, there is no accounting for taste.

FWIW, I already owned one of these:



VW isn't making bullet-proof cars, per se; I had a 2000 New Beetle (blue) and this one (a 2003) and both had serious electrical problems. Fun as anything to drive, though, especially with the decals.

Those Smart cars are just effing cool. I loved them, the first time I saw them in Italy. Then I saw a dealership in London, and wanted to make an impulse purchase. I figured I could just sneak it on board my flight, in my carry-on...

But they're kinda spendy.

Really cool in person, though, for those of you who haven't seen one up-close.

I saw one driving behind me in Seattle last week. I have only seen one other one in America.
