They take a CC number, they send you the new one via DHL (overnight in my case), you use the new one, throw the old one in the box, call DHL, they pick it up. If you don't keep the old battery, they don't charge your CC.

My iBook has the "burning battery" problem. I'll just run it on AC until the dust settles.

The replacement iBook G4 battery I bought for my old iBook G3 also falls under the recall. If the recall form requires a valid iBook G4 serial number, I guess I can attach it to my mom's iBook G4. The exchange form takes up to three battery serial numbers, so I can get hers taken care of as well if it needs it.

I've got my battery right here in my hands. Seeing as how it won't hold a charge for much over 45 minutes and I actually use an OWC battery in my iBook. I was hoping so much that mine was on the recall list, but the serial numbers don't seem to match up. I will check again later, since the date range is right for my iBook.

If your serial number is in the range I listed above--you will qualify--it hasn't migrated to the overloaded Apple servers yet

Ken Sp.,
My serial number, from the bottom of the battery is HQ41 37 RQPV9A. I don't think that looks anything like the ones you posted, so I guess that I am out of luck. It is Model A1061 though. Ah well, I guess no new battery for me. sigh.

"The giant Japanese electronics company said the Apple and Dell recalls would cost Sony between 20 billion yen and 30 billion yen ($172 million to $258 million)."
