Just now, I am in the midst of making a CD for a class I am teaching tonight. I made a playlist of AIFF files, then clicked burn. Instead of getting to work, iTunes spent a couple of minutes "accessing the iTunes Music Store." Then, begrudgingly, it finally burned the CD.
I find this infuriating. iTunes is phoning home and making a database entry on Apple's servers of what music I am burning?
Is this what Toast is good for, making a CD of music I own many times over, without obnoxious and creepy slow-downs such as iTunes just did?
I own thousands of CDs, and years ago I used to go to class with cases of 300 CDs, thousands of dollars worth, some of it irreplaceable. Now, for the class I burn custom mixes and bring those.
