i found a mouse
#1
actually, i need to find a new mouse to use with the kid's emac or the family g5/imac.

i found myself working on a friends windoze machine-blech!-but liked the scroll wheel on her mouse. years ago i used a kensington trackball which i and the daughter's loved but never got a usb version.

i would like the scrolling feature. i'm not sure what 2 or 3 buttons or right button features actually do. care to explain? i do not mind wired.

so anyone in the mood to recommend a reasonably priced mouse?

thanks in advance

be well

a year or so ago i picked up a microsoft intellimouse explorer 2.0. i love this thing. 5 buttons all of which are programmable. i use two for back/forward in a browser. scroll wheel also tilts so you can scroll vertically and horizontally. the largeness took me aback at first but very quickly i came to like how it feels in my hands. think i paid $18 for it from megamacs or something.

i've had a scroll mouse for years. at this point, i absolutely die if i have to use a mouse w/o a scroll wheel. slow and frustrating to try to work without it. i also hate tethered devices. it took not feeling the drag of the wire to appreciate how nice it is NOT to have it there.

I like the Kensington PilotMouse Optical that I bought a couple years ago. Two buttons and a scroll wheel for $20 with aUSB wired connection. They do not sell that model anymore, just the Pro version in a wired model. That has several more bottons on the sides and goes for about $30. Last I looked the wireless PilotMouse Optical was still being sold if you did not want the extra buttons, forget the price.

You will have a hard time finding a basic two-button scroll wheel optical USB mouse that costs more than $20 unless you make an effort to shop at overpriced stores.

Of course you can find much more expensive suped-up mice with a multitude of buttons.

Have a look at the bottom half of the page:

Or if you want cute:

Or cheap:

you can use ANY USB mouse on the planet -- target, bestbuy, staples, office whatever all have some to choose from

here are 175 to choose from, $10 - 20

FWIW, you have been able to use multi button mice on macs for at least 15 years
