Any Wii owners with the Opera web browser?
#1
I was just wondering if anyone has had success with the Opera browser and the Pandora website - http://www.pandora.com

I would like to be able to play music from online sources through the Wii.

I have a Wii, and the Opera browser. I haven't ever tried pandora.com, but I'll try to remember to. Have you? And if so, what results are you getting?

There's a very cool app called "Wii Transfer", I believe, that runs on your Mac, and allows the Wii to access your iPhoto libraries, and your iTunes playlists. There's a free demo that allows you to get an idea of how it works. It also converts movies into the Flash format that the Wii supports, then will stream the movie to the Wii. Pretty slick.

I don't have Opera yet on the Wii. I was waiting to see if I Pandora would work before I bought it.

That Wii Transfer app sounds great too.

I just tested it. I get an out of memory error. I'm not sure if it's caused by the number of Virtual Console games on my Wii or something with the site.

Interesting. The site doesn't really stream the music like Internet radio I think, more like download bigger chunks at once so it would need to store a few MB at least, but there should be enough space on the Wii for a song or two I would imagine.

I've been using and paid for WiiTransfer, and it works well for music, and photos, but films have to be encoded to flv. format (I think), which takes a while.
Picture quality has not been great but that might also be because I have a 7yr old Mac.

The developer is very friendly and quick to get back if you have issues.

I did some searching and found a site that streams audio just like Pandora yet it caters to the Wii. Check out: http://www.finetune.com/wii/ Tested and works great on the Wii.
