I was out with a friend this morning and we stopped by the local Goodwill. We found an old typewriter desk. It is all solid wood with a section in the middle that folds out. There are slots in the desk below the fold-out section where the typewriter was hidden. It sat at an angle on a board which was slid up and out then slid back in horizontally so that the typewriter was available at desktop height. I immediately thought of ways to mount an LCD screen in the fold-away top and put a Mac-mini and a keyboard inside, or maybe a Macbook. For $50 it should be a fun project.

Shopping at charity stores not only good but fun. Little bit of treasure hunting. Some Saturdays I make the rounds not looking for anything specific but always end up buying some little thing I really don't need for cheap. I love the kitchen gadgets.

My parents had a beautiful old heavy wooden typewriter desk like that. We sold it in their estate auction, as it didn't fit with any of our own decor (inclusive of my siblings).
Hope you enjoy it!

Looks nice, just finish up that piece of plywood and you will have yourself a handy piece of furniture.
