something run behind my fridge.
I did not see where it went, but my guess is into the walls where I have pulled up some formica backing.
I am freaked out - I have never had anything like this in my house.
How do I get rid of it? What kinds of things does a mouse feed on??

Standard mousetrap, sprinkle liberally with hot chocolate powder, gets them every time.

A mouse can get through a whole the size of a dime.
Try to seal up any holes on the inside and outside of the house. They also can crawl through the heat ducts in the house.
Seal up your food in plastic containers. Mice will chew threw a cereal box.
Place traps behind the fridge, furniture, etc.
I have an older home with cornfields on 3 sides. Every fall after harvest, before winter sets in; the mice do their best to get in.

Well, we did have a very nice dinner. Then the kids got home and I had to finish up a project on the computer.

What don't they like? Will they get in the ducts if the ac is running? I read they hate peppermint.
What if it is a rat?? It seemed big. I am not sure I would know the difference. It was not a tiny field mouse - I have seen those elsewhere.
I am going through the kitchen right now - I don't see any sign of them in my cupboards.
We have a common basement in our buiding and I am going to make sure and call the management company to pest control.
I have lived here since 1991 and never seen them before
