The Austrian/Hungarian border back in '76, it reminded me of Cleveland.
What is the most remote, distant geographic location you've been?

Worldwide it'd have to be the Yasawa Islands, a nearly uninhabited chain of islands (no electricity in any of the villages) in Fiji.
In the U.S. it'd have to be my dissertation research area in central Esmeralda County, Nevada. It's a big county and it used to have the claim of least populated county in the U.S. I did most of my work far offroad, so I could be out there a week and not see another person. Definitely a bit lonely

Driving from Fallon to Ely and not seeing one single sign of life... with the odd exception of a neon sign lighting up a strip club in the middle of nowhere.

Needless to say the lines at the shrine were long because it was during pilgrimage season. Next time I'm going off peak. |
