I am boycotting self check-outs. I refuse to assist in automating more Americans out of their jobs.

They probably don't want people making smaller than 12" cuts for safety reasons as it may be difficult to secure the small edge piece in their rig. Also so that people don't ask them to cut up a 4x8' sheet into 96 1" wide strips. I want that saw blade.

You have Americans working at checkout counters in your area?

I don't use them, either. If they want me to check myself out, they will have to give me a discount since they are saving labor costs.

Yes, that's another objection I have to them. If I wanted to be a cashier I would have gotten a job as one.

Looking for a certain brand of drain cleaner...
At Home Depot: It's not with the other drain cleaners in Home and Garden. There's only a couple of cleaners there so I ask they've got a display elsewhere. 'Guy in the Home and Garden section points me to plumbing. Guy at Plumbing tells me to go to Home Repair. Guy at Home Repair tells me to look at the endcap near Paint. (Which has a nice display of disposals). Guy at Paint walks back with me to Home and Garden where we confront the first guy who confesses that they don't carry that brand any more. At Lowe's: The stuff is on display near the door. It almost doesn't matter what the product is that I'm looking for. It's one of those "The same thing happens every time" stories. I'd simply go to Lowe's first, but it's a half hour away whereas there are 4 HD's within 10 minutes of here. Plus, look at all the exercise I get.

My final meltdown at Wal-mart was due to their lame self check out crap.
I've observed that not all Home Depots are created equal. The one I used to shop at regularly is a hit & miss sort of thing. A much newer one, several miles farther away is always a joy to shop at. I've never cared for Lowe's.

For ordinary hardware I go to our local Ace store. Support the small businesses in your town!
