I think the "air" might be a high-speed, short range wireless protocol (wireless Firewire? It was being worked on quietly over the years) that enables the MacBook Air to seamlessly communicate with a small docking unit that connects up external displays, optical drives, and whatever else. At least that's what I'd prefer over the "hollow iMac"-type dock.
