Movie rentals, etc moot for those of us in the boonies

Apple movie rentals, yet another thing I can't have. Sorry, just a rant, I wish they would do more to bring reliable and affordable broadband to rural users. For me and many others who live in non-urban areas, there is simply no access to a connection that makes downloading these movies a possibility. There is no cable or DSL available, Satellite services have caps of 200mb per day or less, and T1 lines cost over $500 per month for 512k speed. Sorry again for ranting, I know I could always move, but I love all of the other things about living in the country.

Stuck with Hughes.net's 200mb per 24 hour period (or get throttled back to sub-dial-up speeds for 24 hours) too.

I do love the rural area though.

Damn frustrating being 400 YARDS from the end of the Cable internet run though. (No, wireless won't work, it's 400 yards of heavy brush and trees, up a steep hill).

I at least remember your pain. I was so excited when I saw the cable trucks outside my house stringing new cable for high speed access. Then they didn't turn it on for another year or two, but I have it now (sorry if that is a bit of dig).

The hughes.net Fair Access Policy is just a mask for them over-subscribing their satellites and annoys me to no end. I'm glad I found out about the "hole" in their FAP day so I can get those Adobe and other bulky updates.

I've heard good reports of the line of sight radio based wireless internet service providers (WISPs), but none that reach me. I think mick e has that setup...

Yeah, I know about the FAP "hole"... but it's damn annoying having to (and somethimes being able to) "schedule" downloads.

I favor executing a few Hughes.net execs... and see if they see reason, and increase the speed, and eliminate the FAP entirely.
