im not seeing where this would change the gloss?

a glossy protector screen on top of a glossy screen doubles the reflections ? :-)
should be great for a more (on) hazardous environment.

You're under the impression that people would buy a Mac computer with a screen they hate? Interesting theory, but...maybe you're thinking of PC buyers?

sorry, I just assumed that it would cut out the glare that I've heard a lot of you whining about. And it's not an impression that people would buy a computer with a screen they hate... just go back and read some earlier threads and you'll see that many people here have done just that.

its a good find if it did cut the gloss some
ive got a pair of AL 20" (which have a whole other screen issue) and a AL 24" (which has a gorgeous screen) and the gloss isnt an issue i just look "through" it

There's nothing that that tells me the glossy *protector* reduces glare, though it's possible that might be a viable possibility.
It's been said that some places sell a *matte* screen cover which would make sense.

Unless Apple changes something in their lineup in the near future I'll probably be buying an iMac with a screen that I don't like or want. So, I'd welcome some form of an overlay or glass replacement that would eliminate the glossy screen.

The stated purpose is to reduce smudging-- but don't let me stop this wonderful thread from dragging on about glare reduction.

Perhaps you glossed over the subject line. Unless you think rz believes we n00bs love to smudge up the screen with our grubby mitts. |
