Good app for setting up an ebay auction?
#1
Hi everyone,

I wonder if people have a recommendation for a good app that will walk you through setting up an ebay auction-- I've actually bought lots of stuff, but have never sold before. I'm actually setting this up for my mom, who is far more of a newbie than I am, so what would be ideal would be something which makes it super-easy even for the über-newbie and less-than-savvy ebay'er to set up an auction ...

I tried searching at macupdate, but there seem to be a lot of choices, and I could use a recommendation...

There's Garagesale and iSale. No idea which one's better. Try them and see.

if it's only a few items every once in a while, why not list directly in eBay's sell page, you can put all info there, i.e. title, description, links to pics, asking price, etc. No need to use fancy apps, most of which are not free. But if she decides to list on a regular basis, then try "Auction Listing Creator 6.5". I never used it, only played with it once and I think it's OK.

I put off buying an app for ages but finally checked out GarageSale's 'first three free' test and was totally taken by it. I immediately paid the money over and it is pretty cheap for an Apple app anyway. Highly recommended.

You don't need anything other than what eBay offers,
especially since you are just starting out. Keep it
simple and sweet, provide good descriptions and photos. I
list 75-150 items per month and have no trouble whatsoever
with regular listing methods provided by eBay. My feedback
stands at 2494 and 99.9% positive, I've been on almost since
the beginning.

You can use one of the free WYSIWYG web apps to create SIMPLE fancy HTML for the page (Color, resize text, etc) and use Image Shack for hosting the images.

Netscape for OS X includes Basic HTML, just go to source code copy and paste into the Description box when you get to that point in the listing.

Other than that, iSale and Garage Sale both have good points for the $40 or so that they ask.

Hi guys, thanks for advice -- we went with GarageSale, pretty good and mostly painless. First three auctions free, as noted. The only place it screwed up was on the shipping -- we had to correct this manually, but otherwise it worked fine. Very intuitive layout in that program.
