Attendance at Inauguration will be huge
#1
I have never heard of this happening before. Hotels in Baltimore and Frederick are completely booked for the Inauguration Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Washington hotels have been booked for a while. People are booking hotel rooms as far north as Aberdeen, Md., home of Cal Ripken and 75 miles from Washington.

i heard an NPR report yesterday. homes in the DC area are showing up for rent on Craigslist. one 3 bedroom home is available for the week for $12,000. go to npr.org to hear the 90 second story. even a local Red Roof Inn is sold out for $359 a night.

You could not pay me enough to be there. I can't take crowds like that. To me that would be like putting someone who is claustrophobic in a small closet.

I hope everyone has fun, but I'll just watch it on TV.

You've just summed up my feelings quite nicely, too. I blame a lot of things on me being old and grumpy, but I don't think I was ever young enough to be able to tolerate something like that.

guess you never made it to any huge demonstrations in the last 30 years, eh?

i hope to be there so i can stand with my son at a footstep of history. i was too young for King's March on Washington though i could have gone if my mom had taken me.

good on you. Memories have a longer value for a kid than those soon broken toys and video games.

I still fondly remember being in the front when about 5,000 of us marched on the state capitol in Missouri to protest a proposed dam that would destroy a pristine wildlife area. I got to stand on the podium next to the governor when we delivered our petitions. Heady stuff for a 13 year old 'student environmentalist'.

The dam never got built.

Can't see why you would watch such an unfolding tragedy at all, swampy. Are you also attracted to train wrecks? :o

Yeah, I don't even like to go to big concerts or sporting events. I would have to help out a demonstration by making posters for others to carry. Each to his/her own talents. Smile
