most elected officials use cheap, imported labor like that.

I think lots of people do.

The young guys who do our yard? Cheap home-grown (former) neighbor boys.

...there are over 30,000 noncitizens serving, fighting, and dying for the U.S. in its military forces.

Are there any 'anti-immigration' types volunteering to take their place? Oh wait,
they're too busy mowing their own lawns and cleaning the pool

how can you serve in the military without being a US citizen?

there are also people serving, fighting, and dying for the U.S. in its military forces who took that option instead of jail time.

think about that.

You can serve in the military without being a citizen. In fact for those who seek citizenship it can be a fast track.

Ask a Military Recruiter, they will explain it to you.

You got some bad info there. An exception may be made, but convicted felons usually are not accepted. Again, ask a Military Recruiter.

Isn't Sarah Palin's World Class Son one of those?

The US military has always allowed non-citizens to enlist in times of conflict. If they survive they can get fast tracked to citizenship.

I'm not sure how it works now, but I had a friend in the Air Force in the late 70' who was not a U.S. citizen. The only problem was that he couldn't get the security clearance his job required unless he became a citizen. I never understood how he was allowed to go into his field given this issue. I knew others who worked on crypto gear, and they were conditionally allowed to enter this field; they had to obtain their TS SCI (top secret sensitive compartmentalized information) billet to remain in crypto maintenance.
