It doesn't matter how because, "each store must sell all five iPhones during the pilot."

Resistance is futile.

What is the point of basing the store's likely success on 5 sales to their staff?

Thats probably exactly what the employee was thinking. "Damn iPhone! How am i supposed to afford that?!?!?! I'm so pissed I'm going to post this notice online. That'll teach 'em".

"Cletus, you have been selected as one of the 5 lucky associates to receive an iPhone. Beginning this week, the Company will garner your wages for the cost of the phone and for the monthly fee from AT&T, less of course your Wal-Mart discount."

I wonder if that's the point.

It might be a test of their ability to process a sale, not the ability to make a make a sale, since they're obviously only to sell them to employees.

I'm curious as to *why* they want them sold in the pilot only, to employees only, and not let them be sold to OTC customers.

The are trying to prevent a mad rush of people breaking down the doors and trampling employees just to save $2 off the price of buying it directly from Apple or ATT.

Maybe the whole thing is a ruse, designed to test whether Wal-Mart employees will adhere to an NDA.
