That's the 1963 hit from The Surfaris.
Recently I was driving with my wife, youngest daughter (25) and a friend of my daughter. I had a compilation disc I had made up ages ago playing and then 'Wipe Out' came on. I immediately started a very slow sway to the left followed by a slow sway to the right and then repeated for the whole song. Both my wife and daughter were doing the same mirroring my position and the friend wondered what the hell we were on.
Some will know and most won't.

Play the imaginary drums.
Theme from Hawaii Five-0 brings a slightly different involuntary motion.

Play the imaginary drums. Wildly. Throw the 'sticks', spin, flail in the air.
Back in the day, when I had a radio program (in college), we had that song on a cartridge tape. Backwards. Thhhooop, Thhhooop, Thhhooop. It was a hoot, especially when we were, *ahem* in an altered state, violating FCC rules. Drop it into Audacity and try it out. You'll laugh your butt off.
Also try the drum solo from "Innagoddadavita" by Iron Butterfly. It gets inside your head.

defininately not beat out the drum solo on the table, back of the seat in front of you or on your own knees as was common back then .

I always imagine surfers taking on a huge wave and almost losing it. Or was that Pipeline? Can't say that I act out or anything when I hear it though. Both of those are great tunes!
