But make sure that the one you pick can run your hardware. I have several universal remotes that don't support various devices that I have.

I would go with the first one. It is physically a traditional remote...rubberized-type buttons and all.
The flat remotes, while very nice...if you do use them heavily over time the buttons/overlay will have a high chance of cracking and splitting. I have some flat remotes for a few systems and love them, but have had some that eventually get that wear and tear in them - also, the buttons sometimes feel like it takes more of an effort to press due to the design and how they pop-down/pop-out to retain its form.
