Need a new laptop bag - any recommendations?
#1
I am looking for a new laptop bag. Know little about what's good or bad, features to look for. Some air travel, some train, some car. Need to take into business meetings. Would like to be at $100 or less. Need room for more than just the laptop, so sleeves are no good. Have no preconceived notions about backpack vs. over the shoulder...

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I can only recommend Targus as a company. http://www.targus.com/us/

I had a problem with a metal piece on a strap breaking and they sent a new strap out immediately. No questions asked. I was very happy with the bag and with the company. I still have it 10 years later.

The best stuff is Tom Bihn, but it's expensive.

I've had a Waterfield bag since 2001, and it's been great.

Hmmm, looks like prices have gone up since I purchased...

I have a Booq messenger bag, I love(d) it. After 5 years of fairly hard travel, it's beginning to show its age.

My only recommendation to you is to buy a proper bag. It drives me nuts when someone will spend $2800 on a portable but a bag is a $30 afterthought. Oh well, I guess, they get what they deserve.

Swissgear makes some nice, durable, affordable stuff and can be found online and at the big boxes, Target, Ofc stores, etc.

I have a couple of spire lappy messenger bags now for 10 years...they are simply unflappable! http://www.spireusa.com

Got one from STM Bags a few years back at Macworld. Real sturdy and durable, very happy with it.

I have this from stm:

Bag has been great, and everybody who sees it raves about how great it looks.

The sleeve (included) if carried separately looks a little girly, but fine. $100 when I bought it.

Wow. That strikes me as the kind of comment made by a person who pays more attention to how something looks than its true value. Of course I'd rather have a nice bag in which to carry a nice laptop, but I consider the quality of the computer to be much more important. I buy things because they suit my needs, not because they satisfy others.
