Thank heavens, there's been a dearth of Dell-related postings here recently!

I know the mini 10v can, dunno 'bout the mini 10 (and not exactly clear on the difference).

Hmmmm. Of course it's too late now, but I was kind of wishing I'd gotten one of the netbooks to take on my trip. Maybe next time - if there is a next time.

The 10v (Bear) Mini has the Intel 950 chipset. Should be able to run OS X.

The Mini 10 has the Intel 500 chipset. OS X will not run on it.

Comparison between the 10 models here:

Yes, the 10v can definitely run OS X, but to upgrade the RAM from the stock 1GB to 2GB requires almost disassembling the whole computer.

Which is reportedly not that hard?
Can you get by on that 1GB for netbook-type uses?

Depends on your definition of "not that hard". I previously posted a link to videos of disassembly to install RAM in a 10v here, the videos are here: http://mydellmini.com/forum/dell-mini-10...video.html. The three videos run a bit over 25 minutes.

Thanks. Wish there was a time-lapse version.
