I agree. It's not intended to be a full feature computer. Lack of optical drive? I've used my optical drive in my MBP 2, maybe 3 times, in almost a year.
If you're looking for a full featured computer don't buy an Air. You'll be disappointed. If you want a small- sized , thin, light, beautiful computer for web, email, iApps and the iWork, you'll love the Air. A client of mine has an Air and she loves it. Web, email, iWork. Backs up wirelessly to a Time Capsule at home. And when all you're working on is <1MB iWork files and the like, wireless backup is easy, fast, and pretty much transparent.
