POLL: 20/20, eyeglasses, contacts, Lasik?

I had monovision RK surgery (a precursor to Lasik) some 20 years ago and while it was successful, I'd give a lot to have the pre-surgery vision back and just wear glasses. Also, over the years, I find I have more "trouble" (irritation, pain, poor vision in the morning) with that eye and no issues with the one that was left alone. I'll be a candidate for lens replacement one day and, if I can afford it, I'd like to try the bifocal lenses - $5,000 / eye down here in FL.

If you have the cataract (lens replacement) surgery after you are old enough for Medicare, they will pay for everything and you just pay the difference between the regular and the Toric multi-focal lenses. A friend of ours had this done and that was what he did. It was either $700 per eye more or $700 total, either way, a lot better than if you have to pay the whole 5K out of pocket.

I will find it ironic/sad, if sometime after I turn 65 I have the surgery and for the first time in my life am able to function without glasses.
