It's great she tried to handle it all on her own. And a pity the person helping her close her old account didn't remind her that any outstanding ACH's would come back against the old account. Big gap there, even though it's not their responsibility to be mind readers.

My only advice is to let the prez know that your mom was under the impression that the bank would make the ACH's come out of the new account. The reason she was under that impression was because the branch said they'd take care of "it." --- oooh, what's the definition of "it" ...

There's absolutely no way any bank can (ACH requests come from the company making the request, and the request is made against a specific account) but your mom didn't know that. She should have known, yes, and so it's NOT "the bank's fault," sorry.
