Put rebuilt Starter in car and it works, but whines.

Did you replace the starter bolts with new bolts? I had a car that busted the bolts because they were so old, this was when I was in high school. I used the included shims, but the bolts still busted and I was stuck with a broken bolt in the engine block. Sold the car for what I bought it for and got something else.

Microman, if the car was sitting for a while, the belts and or pullys will whine, inspect your belts, if they are not cracked, spray them with belt dressing.
