It's not external interference if it happens in different abodes.
The clicking may be a overload-type of protector coming out of the "off" state due to excessive current draw or overheating of some component. You hear this with a refrigerator compressor overload switch. It is really a self-resetting circuit breaker.
You could use a Kill-a-watt meter to test for current draw compared to the rating on the TV tag.

Bottom line is I'd just replace it and get on with your life. Unless you can spot the problem quickly and repair it yourself, fixing a CRT TV is not cost-effective for the long term.
