If they didn't make note of the non-standard and bastardized drain plug, as far as I am concerned they took "ownership" of the problem. That was the reasoning behind the policy at Jiffy Lube. We would make note in the computer that service was declined, and print out a no charge receipt that they could take back to the last guy who touched the car. First thing we would do would be to check for pan damage, leaks and odd drain plugs. This was done without any tools in your hand. No way the plug was our problem that way.
