The only way to explain it is this: The Yankees have simply BOUGHT a great team this year.
I'll be the first to admit that when you spend money on the right players, you get results.
The continued camera shots of Kate Hudson at all of the games make me wonder when she
has the time to make all of those crap movies she stars in...
Sour grapes. Yes Teixeira and Sabathia were good pick ups but they hardly won it single-handedly. There are a lot of guys on that team that were brought up by the Yankees and have been there for years. Sure they will be paid to stay. Why the heck not? Add Girardi's reversal on how the players were handled, i.e. turning them into a family-type team w/o divas, some really hard work over coming injuries, and a never say die attitude and you have the makings of a very good team. LA lost because they were out-played and out-pitched. I'd say out coached but I think Girardi made more flubs than Scioscia.
You can throw all the money you want at a professional team and that does not mean they will be the ultimate winners, just look around any pro sport or the previous several Yankee seasons or Tampa Bay of last year or the Twins of this year. When a team is on, playing as a team and not a bunch of individuals they stand a good chance. Lose that team mentality and that mental edge and all the talent and money in the world won't help you.
Good grief, if money created wins Minnesota should not have needed to pick up oldster/diva Favre to have anything other than a 50-50 season. Some teams spend better than others.
