no. the ability to switch ears is not contingent upon this earhook being easily removed from the device. That only needs the rotation of the round piece, and the swivel of the earhook within the round piece. It could be more sturdily attached with a screw on the bottom where the earhook meets the round piece. No need for it to be able to just slip through and out of the round piece.
