Have you tried a new router? Also, make sure that the wireless channel you are using isn't in use by others near you. Lastly, if you are in an apartment building...good luck. There is so much crap that affects wireless negatively... microwaves, cordless phones, etc. and you cram all that into one area in apartments and there is just no way to get reliable wifi.
I have a brand new router that's proved that it wasn't the router. It even drops when I'm connected directly to their modem. It wouldn't be a problem if Comcast didn't charge so much for everything.
