Apple Just Isn't What It Used To Be

I'm not saying I wouldn't be unhappy if the HD failed in a 4 month old laptop. We had a HD fail in a less than 1 month old eMac. They replaced the eMac with a new one because they lost the power button when replacing the HD. It was a heck of a lot more trouble to cart in an eMac than a MacBook Pro, but they fixed it and it is still working, but has been retired, because we bought a Mac mini to replace it.

You can get a bad HD every now and again. Apple doesn't make their own HDs, so it really isn't their fault, unless the update really did fry your drive or it was improperly installed or something. If you would like to post some real info about the update frying your drive, I might be a bit more sympathetic. If Apple makes good on a repair/replacement, I can't see how you have a lot to complain about. If they don't, then rant away.

I don't like the way the Apple stores have changed as Apple has become more mainstream, but I would still not want a Windows machine. Apple may still charge more than some other companies, but I think the quality and service is still better than most.
