I actually returned something to the store a couple weeks back because it was too expensive.
Butter.
1lb of butter was $6.50. A few weeks prior it was $4. I was in a hurry, thought I didn't remember the old price correctly. Thought about it the next day and returned it. This was at a Kroger store. Went to Whole Foods and the same butter was a few dollars cheaper there.
There's some insane price gouging taking place between that store and the nearest Safeway. Like 2lbs of cheese at most stores it $5.99. At these two they often want over $10 and the Kroger one wants $13.49 as their regular price. Another Kroger store under a different name a few miles away wants $5.99, regular price, no card.
The cheese is normally $10.99 or so with a card "on sale."
I can't believe Whole Foods is so much cheaper than Safeway or the nearest Kroger.
