MysteryGuest is no doubt thinking about people like my mom's friend or my sister, who can never resist emailing links to Flash-based eCards with dogs that sing and other cute things. And that's fine. That stuff is content people want to share, and content recipients want to see, and no worse artistically than whatever YouTube has on its home page any day of the week.
When you think about it, it's a strange sort of "non-difference," but YouTube was an easy thing to target for Apple. They were lucky to some extent Google agreed to make available a Flash alternative for them.
Then again, this is as much Google's fight as it is Apple's. Perhaps in the nest few months things will heat up over there as well.
