We don't know yet that anything was nicked.
Adhesions are common with abdominal surgery and are potentially quite deadly if not caught.
Another common complication of abdominal surgery is an ileus. Peristalsis stops after a surgeon handles the intestines and it can take several days before the body can process food properly again during which time obstructions can build, ulcers form, bacteria thrive and blood supplies may get choked off.
