I had my Gall bladder removed about two month ago.
On my follow up visit with the surgeon he asked if I had seen the pictures he took.
When he started showing me the pictures he said "oh ya you were the one that I had to take a piece of your liver with the gall bladder"
They had attached together.
I guess he forgot to mention it in the post surgery.

bruce- I had hernia surgery a month ago, and my surgeon explained everything he did post surgery. But, of course, I was so stoned out of my mind on painkillers I have NO idea what he said. He had to remove a few extra bits as part of the surgery. It wasn't until the followup that I really understood what he said.

And as far as postop infection... happens a lot. A lot less than 'in the day', of course, but it happens. Superbugs are another more recent issue as well.

Heckfire, I've got a localized infection now where one of the 'dissolving stitches' didn't dissolve, poked up and out, and got gunky. My wife (who is a nurse's aide) pulled it, irrigated it, and packed it with neosporin. I'll see the doc tomorrow for a probable course of antibiotics
