Black & a few others have the Epson WorkForce 600 and seem to like it.

I got the WorkForce 500 back before xmas @ Target for $40 {closeout}:
4 ink tanks
USB 2.0 (NO net or WiFI)
30 page ADF
NO computer needed for photo, copier, or fax functions
Built-in memory card slots, PictBridge port, and 2.5-inch color LCD

ez scanning & Epson provides good support for 10.6 and the WF500 came with a suite of Mac apps. Cheap & reliable 'clone' carts are readily available too.
