"Why is This GOP House Candidate Dressed as a Nazi?"

This guy is a member of a group called "Wiking" that says on its website that it "admires Nazi accomplishments." And Iott is on record saying this himself. I think most of us wouldn't be caught dead saying that. This group romanticizes this Waffen SS group and makes historically inaccurate statements about them in order to put them in a better light. I personally think that's a very bad idea. I would venture that at the time this guy was playing SS on the weekends he wasn't planning to run for Congress someday.
And how can any American look someone who is Jewish in the eye and say "I admire Nazi accomplishments."

That's wrong on every level. Sorry, but there's no excuse for Mr. Lott. His participation in the group shows very poor judgment.
If he is truly a fan of history and wanted to teach his son about WWII and the SS, his time would have been better spent at the Holocaust Museum.

Ah, now this is an additional bit of information that changes my original assessment. As I said before,

"Unless this guy was a completely gung-ho "we must dress up as SS men because they were so cool" ringleader, I'd give him a pass".

Looks like he no longer gets a pass.
