When my grandfather (a staunch environmentalist and staunch Republican) reached his dotage, he was 'attacked' by the Republican Party, who began leeching the contents of his checking account. Fortunately my uncle had access to his account, saw the $1,000 checks sailing out, and stopped the process. Grand-dad gave up the checkbook without too much complaint as long as he had an 'allowance'.
