Homeless folks don't always want help
#15
Since I drive around all day if I gave all the onramp sign jockeys a sawbuck I'd be homeless in short order. There's a guy who stands around outside the door at the Whole Foods in the Pearl District, never says anything, no sign, nothing. I usually buy an extra cookie for him, or if its hot a bottle of juice. I only give money to folks with one leg or Native Americans. Occasionally a Vietnam Vet will get to me.

Yesterday I saw a lady give an onramp guy a tangerine. He took it, looked at it, then casually tossed it over his shoulder. One time when I was bored I watched a lady working an onramp from across the street. After about 20 minutes and a few scores she folded up her sign, walked down the block, got into a late model car and drove away. Hard to tell who's scamming and who's legit. Here in the People's Republic of Portland we have pretty good services for the downtrodden and we're currently building a big new facility over by the bus station. Some of my tax dollars go for that. OK with me, I've been homeless.
