I'm at Home Depot currently. The Maytags have stickers on them that say, "Better Built with American Pride" FWIW. I forget who the other brands are within that same Maytag group but would expect parts to be similar. They have a white one for $400. There's an Amana for $250 also, "Built with American Pride" if that matters. Not sure about the "pride" but at these prices they're disposable.
Our Maytag is about 10 years old. It's not noisy but went through 2 or 3 periods when it got so noisy I thought it was going to explode. And then it would fix itself. Paid about $350; a neighbor found the same one on Craigslist for $100.
