I don't see what the internet has to do with the whole thing though-- if anything I've seen the internet facilitate the organization and mutual support of cyclists with pretty inspiring results.
If kids are riding less than they used to, I think the place to look is at the way we design "modern" streets and neighborhoods.
When my kid plays Black Ops online (ok, maybe me sometimes) there is usually about 180,000 people playing, most of them kids, and that's just PS3. Xbox is probably a lot more at any given time. Every once in a while it flashes the total number of hours played, and it's staggering. I remember when it came out they said there was six centuries of playtime on the first day. I'd say online gaming is pretty much what kids are doing now days. kj.
