I think the people who recorded the confrontation might have been trying to expose something they view as having racial overtones, however, I don't believe the actions of the police were racist; they simply felt challenged that their orders weren't being followed and their ID was being requested. The cops are in the wrong, here, and will lose this case. Furthermore, surely these traffic stop points violate a citizen's rights against unreasonable search and seizure and the practice should be challenged.

It is obvious the police are using this sobriety checkpoint for more than checking for drunk drivers. And, yes, a police officer is required to show his badge when asked for it.
