Oh, and thanks for contributing to that small sample of threads, too!
I enjoyed that.
As many have already pointed out, fragmenting dealmac took took it from a recoverable spin to a nosedive. A lot of folks here like to make fun of it declaring it dead, when it isn't. They can't let bygones be.
There are a lot of posts here that I'd obliterate once I was benevolent dictator of the world and forums. Misleading subject lines- and ego posts would be the first to go. Same with posts that throw the first stone. Oh, and stupid posts as well. Web logging posts would not be permitted.
But- that not being the situation, I pick and chose the threads I read. The Ignore button is handy for problem posters. I'd like to see such a "button" for threads. Click on the triangle to the left of the OP and the thread truncates, just like a folder of files in OS X. This would make it easier to ignore the posts and whole threads you don't want to read.
As N-OS says, it is what it is. Tolerate what you can, ignore what you can't, move on if you want. Some have left, none that I miss, that I can think of.
Charlie™ never made it over here (that I know of) in the first place, and I miss his posts.
Like the children we are, we get along when we can, squabble when we don't, get over it if we can, and take our ball and go home if we can't.
Subforums are a cure worse than the disease, if dealmac teaches us anything. A true Tips and Deals forum would cut out 99% of any Mac tech support. How about making a Tip/Deal/Tech post subject line in bold so as to stand out? The poster would check a box that makes the SL bold. Those who abused the feature would be permanently banned, and their mouse hand would be beaten with a hammer, Mags' Style. Same with people who made dumbass subject lines like Japan bombs China.
The simple truth of the matter is that we can't all get along. And never will.
