Why is this Cloud storage thingy so important?

I think one of the most important aspects of iCloud is that it enables iOS devices to cut the USB cord to a Mac/PC.

I've got friends who hate using iTunes on a PC and therefore never considered iPhones. I've got relatives who barely use / don't have computers as well.

I also know some who own iPads / iPhones and NEVER sync after initial activation.

All of these users will be served with iCloud. This will further enable sales.
