I recently went through the decision process of Kindle vs. New Nook:

I haven't read the review you linked, but will do so soon.
In the end, I went with the Kindle b/c of the ecosystem. I just couldn't find anything similar in the Nook Store in terms of "Kindle Singles" and even blogs.
I'm still hoping that Amazon updates the Kindle soon.
