I usually do my own but I once went to a Jiffy Lube because I was low on time also. They did it, and I drove away. Simple enough, I thought.
A few months later when I went to change again I noticed a couple things were amiss. First thing was my skidplate. Usually held on with 6 bolts. There were 2 or 3. They didn't bother bolting the rest of it on. Second, the oil filter was old. It was the same one I had put on 2 changes ago. Third, it was kind of dented and twisted in places like they had tried to take it off for a minute, decided it would take too much time to put it on properly, and gave up and left it on.
So then I wondered, if these monkeys are so rushed for time or so lazy that they can't properly replace a couple of bolts on a skid plate, why am I trusting them with my engine, which at last check, was a somewhat more vital component than a skidplate?
Never again. If you lack the tools or expertise to DIY then take it to a well-reviewed independent mechanic. Those quick oil change places are slam-bam-thankya-ma'am. They don't care about you or your car. I would gladly run on the same oil/filter another month or thousand miles if I was crunched for time so I could DIY, rather than trusting the job to those idiots' hands.
