I was just thinkin' about "fo shizzle!" about 2 hours ago!
:-D
So... is the "faster than rivals like Samsung" chip going to be an ARM chip by Samsung? If so.... Samsung
won't be real far behind on that one, because I think they'll already know about it!!
I want to see the .18um Intel Dual Core ATOM.
They are working on a .22um ---- but DEC - as in Digital Equipment Corp, had an .18um version of
the 64 bit ALPHA - designed, tested and ready for 2002 or 2003, and had already implemented .32 and
smaller on previous versions.
This is interesting to note because Intel JUST GOT TO .32nm scale on 64 bit chips, and IBM is still using
a .45nm scale for the Power 7 - which is the size of a G3/G4, with 8 cores on it, and runs at 4.25GHz
(down from Power6 at 5GHz) but cranks an incredible 267 GFlops with one 8 core CPU.
That, my friends, is like 267 Apple G4/450 CUBES (not including Sherman Tank).
The iPad 2 (and the Cray of 1994) stand at roughly 1.67GFlops. Current iPhone 4 at 1GFlop. Same as a G4 Cube.
