Any way to keep my gmail address (which is tied to my Google Profile) private (or vice versa)?

The privacy thing isn't the only thing I can'tfigure out. I actually got a Google+ invite from another forum member this past week and would like to "spread the wealth," but I can't for the life of me figure out how to invite others.
